The doors open for worship daily at 5:00 PM.
Opening Soon
Local artist and Atlanta’s Best Bartender ( according to Creative Loafing and The Sunday Paper), Grant Henry, is opening Sister Louisa’s Church of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium ( to be called, “Church” for short) in the Danneman’s location.
Danneman’s Coffee at 466 Edgewood Avenue in the Old Forth Ward, closed it’s doors on Monday Sep. 5, 1010 and Grant Henry whose alter ego is Sister Louisa, papered the windows to do his magic in preparation of the launch of his new concept: “Sister Louisa’s ‘Church’ of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium… Come On In, Precious!” It will be a destination for coffee as well as spirits ( once that liquor license is secured). Grant who has a huge following , is known for creating fellowship and fun and plays a mean game of ping pong.
The old Danneman’s Grocery building housing the new “Church”, as well as Corner Tavern and Cafe Circe is owned by Edgewood Pioneer, Joe Stewardson who has hung in there for years encouraging the revival of the Edgewood Corridor. Two years ago, after Javaology closed its doors, friends Grant Henry, and Judi Knight helped Joe redesign the space to open as Danneman’s and silent partner, Joe teamed up with barista extraordinaire, Kate Pedrick to run the operation. Alas, the world does not run on coffee alone and thus plan B was hatched by Grant Henry, who had been looking for a home for his “Church” since leaving his bartending gig at The Local last Spring. Grant’s “Church” should be able to bring in more revenue, as Henry “will offer thoughtful and provocative intercourse, high quality food and drink at the best value possible.” Adding great food along with spirits and better utilizing the entire space, including the beautiful upstairs area for longer hours (from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.) will have “Church” celebrating life like an old time revival on a hot summer night!
So yes, Danneman’s will be missed, but Church is being born and will be baptized by all her old friends who have been rooting for Edgewood and our corner coffee shop for years, as well as all the new friends, soon to come. And we are going to make it sing Hallelujah.
If you want an invite to the Baptism when “Church” opens in a couple of weeks, run on over and join the new Facebook Page where Sister Louisa already has over 1000 friends!

…daddy died trying to walk on water, mama’s getting “silly” in her 80’s. i have two brothers, brad, whom i love, respect, and adore, who lives in denver, colorado with his wife, susan (whom i’m openly in love with, but we’ve never gone “there”), and their 4 kids michelle, rachel, boone, and matt (they are precious in HIS sight). craig does what he does (if there is a god, may he/she bless craig). craig gave us melissa, jessica, and philip whom i wish i was closer with. i have one birth daughter, mary grace, (who chose freedom and wholeness early), who has lived in isla mujeres, mexico since 9/11. (she “thmart”) my heart is thumping thinking about her. i was lucky to become the step-dad of two children when i married their mom back “in the seventies”. john and anne, who both live here in atlanta and i miss what we had back in the day. (my love for them is constant, however it changes) i don’t have pets nor plants because i love to travel, (and whore around at night) which would leave them as victims, moaning. my true family are those of us who share life in whatever form, honoring each other’s individual life paths, respecting each other’s choices, and understanding that each of us have to do what we have to do to stay whole. period. you know who you are.
Since I Gave Up Hope Life Has Been Much Better

Hope is like the Ego,
You gotta strengthen it
and then you gotta let it go.
Wake up each day,
assess your current reality,
accept that state of being,
and move forward with confidence.
Forgive yourself
what you didn’t do yesterday,
learn from it,
and quit your goddamn whining.
Nobody wants to hear THAT.
HOPE can be bad for your mental health,
it’s presence says:
I’m not ok today,
but maybe I will be tomorrow.
That’s bullshit.
BE HERE NOW.
Give you some love, it’s a verb.

ELIMINATE YOUR IMAGINARY AUDIENCE:
Sometimes we don’t do something
that we REALLY want/need
to do in life
because we are scared
of what “they” will think,
how it will look to “them”.
It has been my experience
that “they” is really just fear.
“They” don’t exist.
“They” is MY inability
to muster the courage
to live truthfully.
People who love you
will go with the changes
you need to make
in your life
towards wholeness.
The hardest sentence
I ever learned to say was:
“I can’t do that and stay whole”.
The most effective sentence
I continue to use in life is:
“I can’t do that and stay whole”.
Those who love you want you to be whole.
All others? Fuck ‘em if they can’t take a joke!
jaj ajj aja
“They” will watch with respect
as you realize your dreams!

My Loss- Your GAIn: My Life is For Sale
I am obsessed with the acquisition and dispersion of possessions. I am fascinated by certain things (wheels, antiques, books, jesus shit), but when they begin to possess me, I get rid of them. My obsessions are your gains. (DSM3 once called this OBSESSIVE/COMPULSIVE BEHAVIOR, others name it BINGE AND PURGE), I just get sick of stuff quickly!!!
MATRIMONIOUS MONDAYS at THE LOCAL
http://blogs.ajc.com/peachbuzz/2009/09/15/the-local-hosts-a-text-message-marriage/ Great story in the AJC, PEACH BUZZ, about a wedding that happened last night at The Local.
FYI, the story happened in a completely organic fashion. I posted my Congratulations to Jon & Angel on my Facebook Page, and a friend, Rich Eldredge, writes for the PEACH BUZZ section of the AJC. A few hours later, wahhhh lahhhhhhhh
dot us
When thinking about the blog, where to go with it, what it’s purpose is, and what the focus of what “we” want to stir up is, ”we” came across the .us. Being Grant Henry and Sister Louisa, simultaneously, made me love the fact that there was an option for .us. Being not real smart, I thought it referred to “us”, as in “we”, later to find out it was meant to be “us”, as in United States. Actually, I don’t know what it’s real intention is?
Come by THE LOCAL Tonight for…
Local Love, Local Flavor, Local Matches (shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh), Local Drinks (Atlanta’s Best Bartender shhhhhh), Local Food (the Best Wings in the Cosmos as voted by the people of the Cosmos), Fall off the Bone Ribs, and Lots of Laughs and basic Stupidity.
You know you belong.
